PrintTwo American organisations help build 25th school in Vietnam
Update 31/01/2013 - 09:11:37 AM (GMT+7)A new school in Tan Minh Commune, Hoa Binh Province was inaugurated on January 28, under a public-private partnership between Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, local authorities and Boeing.
This is the 25th school in Vietnam built in cooperation between the foundation and Boeing.
The school, in Enh Hamlet, has six classrooms, including a computer lab, and is able to accommodate 160 students. The total amount of investment was USD115,000, with 43% coming from the local budget.
“The school is expected to help both teachers and students by significantly reducing obstacles facing them in the education process. It will also encourage teachers and students to improve their methods in learning and teaching," said Tan Minh A School Head Master Mr. Le Anh Hung.
Students and teachers in the remote and disadvantaged area of Tan Minh Commune also received eight computers, donated by Mental Health Improvement Vietnam, a private foundation in Netherlands, and some from other donors.
A Boeing representative, Michael Carson, said "Boeing is proud to partner with the Da Bac District People’s Committee and the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation to support the building of this new school. These new school buildings create a richer environment for teachers and children at school and will improve the quality of teaching and learning.”
Tan Minh is a mountainous commune in Da Bac District, where 52.3% of the population lives under the poverty line.
