Update 22/10/2012 - 08:35:49 AM (GMT+7)

Authorities in a Central Highlands district has just downgraded three school principals to vice principals after their serious financial wrongdoings.

A people’s committee in Dak Song, a district of Dak Nong Province, said Friday in a decision that the three included Nguyen Thi Duyen, principal of Hoa Mai Kindergarten in Thuan Hanh Commune, Nguyen Xuan Thang, principal of Ly Thuong Kiet Middle School in Dak N’rung Commune, and Nguyen Thi Muoi, principal of Hoa Huong Duong Kindergarten in the same commune.

It added that they will be sent to other schools following the punishment.

Duyen’s deputy Truong Thi Binh has been given a written warning while Truong Thi Hue, principal of To Hieu Elementary School in Nam Binh Commune, will have her salary moved one notch lower in the state-designated pay table, the committee said.

The above school executives were found inflating teachers’ overtime hours, mismanaging parent contributions, and misusing school funds, all of which led to a coffer loss of VND500 million (US$24,000) between 2008 and 2012, inspection results show.
