Update 22/10/2015 - 08:46:33 AM (GMT+7)The 'Youth vocational training in Hanoi' project worth over VND38.5 billion (US$1.73 million) was launched at the Hanoi Industry Vocational College (HNIVC) and the College of Urban Works Construction (CUWC) in Hanoi on October 21.
The project, funded by the Korea International Co-operation Agency (KOICA), Huyndai E&C, Huyndai Motor Company and Plan International, aims to improve vocational training for youth in Hanoi, particularly disadvantaged students.
HNIVC Rector Pham Duc Vinh said the project will last three years, from July 2015 to May 2018, and will help the HNIVC to upgrade three workshops including the automobile technology workshop, water pipeline workshop, and a labour safety in construction and industry workshop.
Vinh noted that the project will provide the college with modern equipment to ensure that vocational training programmes will meet the needs of the labour market. As part of the project, teachers at the college will be given training courses by domestic and international experts to help improve their teaching capacity, he added.
Country Director of Plan International Vietnam Glenn Gibney said the project set a target of having 70% of graduates finding stable jobs within six months, and 70% of graduates contributing income to their families within four months after graduation.
He expressed hope that with the implementation of the project, more Vietnamese youth would have jobs, contributing to building a more prosperous country and boosting the good relationship between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
