Private schools face inspections

Update 13/01/2015 - 08:14:07 AM (GMT+7)

A two-month inspection into the admission capacity of 93 non-state high schools across Hanoi will be conducted by the city Department of Education and Training starting next Monday.

The department will determine the enrolment quota for each school for the academic year of 2015 based upon the results of the inspection, which is scheduled to run from January 19 to March 3.

Checks at the other 11 non-state high schools that have two campuses, including Dinh Tien Hoang and Luong The Vinh, will end on January 30.

According to the Department of Education and Training, schools that fail to meet the required teaching standards will face a suspension of new admissions.

Last year, six high schools in Hanoi were suspended from admitting students due to sub-standard teaching conditions, such as unqualified teachers and inadequate school facilities.

Furthermore, Hong Bang, Le Hong Phong, Phung Khac Khoan, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Ngo Gia Tu, and To Hieu high schools will be inspected this year if they wish to resume admission processes, the department informed.

Some 80,000 students in Hanoi are expected to sit for high school entrance examinations this year.
