PrintVietnam win two golds at 11th International Junior Science Olympiad
Update 12/12/2014 - 08:42:07 AM (GMT+7)Vietnamese students have bagged two gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the 11th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) held in Mendoza city, Argentina, from December 3.
All five medal winners are 10th graders at the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
The one-week event drew the participation of 234 students from 41 countries and territories.
IJSO is an annual competition for 15-year-old students to compete in physics, chemistry and biology. The contestants are required to flexibly apply basic science knowledge to tackle three papers including multiple choice examination, theoretical examination and experimental examination.
According to Le Ngoc Quang, Vice Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, this is the 7th time Vietnam has sent students to the event, which was held for the first time in 2004.
At the 10th IJSO in India last year, the Vietnamese team won one gold for the first time and five silver medals.
