PrintVietnam honours Russian teacher for decades of service
Update 10/12/2014 - 08:39:36 AM (GMT+7)Vietnam Ambassador to Russia Nguyen Thanh Son recently honoured Sofia Kortrikova for her decades of distinguished teaching and mentoring of Vietnamese Russian language students.
Kortrikova has set the bar for excellence in advancing student potential and has been a role model for her dedicated and inspired service, Son said on December 8 at a visit with the retired teacher at her home in Russia.
On her living room walls hung many picturesque Dong Ho folk paintings and her home was filled with time immemorial images of Vietnamese women donned in traditional long dress alongside conical hats and innumerable books about the country.
Son gave special thanks to Kortrikova for not long ago using her personal savings to provide more than 100 Russian language textbooks for Vietnamese schools.
Kortrikova in turn said she was happy to know the Russian language has become as popular as English and French in some Vietnamese schools.
On the occasion, Kortrikova presented Ambassador Son a textbook titled ‘for the Vietnamese student who graduated from a university in Russia’.
