PrintCollege student dismissed for beating teacher at toilet
Update 05/06/2013 - 07:55:38 AM (GMT+7)A student was dismissed from a university for life for beating a teacher with intent to rob his luxury Rolex watch and other valuable assets.
The incident occurred inside a restroom at Hanoi University of Business and Trade on May 31 when Ta Quang Nghia, 24, attacked his teacher Nguyen Huy Oanh, 69, with an iron stick.
“Investigators announced Tuesday that Nghia attacked teacher Oanh to rob his ring and Rolex watch,” the university’s deputy principal Vu Van Hoa said.
“Nghia even strangled teacher Oanh with his bag’s leather string and beat him unconscious.”
There are rumors that Nghia attacked professor Oanh because the teacher recorded his regular absence from class.
Professor Hoa also revealed that Nghia had a previous conviction for robbery of a motorcycle in Ha Giang Northern Province and was sentenced to eight years in prison for the crime but he was released after serving only four years.
Reports said professor Oanh has regained consciousness but is still very weak.
