PrintVietnam strikes gold at Asian Physics Olympiad
Update 16/05/2013 - 08:18:52 AM (GMT+7)The Vietnamese team won two gold medals at the 14th Asian Physics Olympiad (AphO) that concluded Monday in Indonesia, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
Bui Quang Tu, enrolled in Hanoi – Amsterdam High School located in the Vietnamese capital, and Ngo Phi Long from Son La Specialized High School, situated in the northern province of Son La, are the two gold medalists. Long bagged a silver in last year’s contest.
Vietnam also secured two silver medals and a bronze this year, when test questions were considered the most challenging in history.
The medalists come from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and the central province of Thanh Hoa.
Students from twenty countries attended the 2013 AphO that ran from May 5 in Bogor, West Java.
India hosted the 13th edition where Vietnam was awarded one gold, five silvers, and two bronzes.
AphO is an annual physics competition for high school students from Asia and Oceania regions.
Each national delegation is made up of eight competitors plus two leaders.
