PrintAsia Foundation grants scholarships to poor schoolgirls
Update 02/05/2013 - 07:40:40 AM (GMT+7)Asia Foundation (US) presented scholarships to 70 poor female students in the southern province of An Giang on April 28.
The students, each receiving 1.2 million VND, are among 110 schoolgirls in An Giang to receive scholarships from the foundation during the 2012-2013 school year.
The scholarships, which were channelled through the Vietnam Study Encouragement Association, aim to help the poor female students continue their studies.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Asia Foundation’s Deputy Country Representative in Vietnam William Taylor pledged to promote the foundation’s support for An Giang schoolgirls living in difficulty.
Asia Foundation, a non-profit and non-governmental organisation committed to the development of a peaceful, prosperous, just and open Asia-Pacific region, has been operating in An Giang since the 2004-2005 school year.
