S’pore bank association scholarships open to applicants

Applications for the Singaporean Dr Goh Keng Swee (GKS) Scholarship program are now open to candidates from Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.

Three-to-four scholarships are annually awarded to outstanding individuals from these countries and territories to pursue undergraduate studies at such universities as the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

Applicants, preferably 25 or younger, should concurrently apply to NUS, NTU, SMU or SUTD, where they are advised to select a course of study relevant to the finance sector.

Candidates should also demonstrate leadership qualities and possess good academic and extra-curricular activity achievements, and have either sat for or made private arrangements to take the SAT I.

Successful applicants will be provided with tuition, other compulsory fees, airfare to and from Singapore, an annual maintenance allowance of SGD6,500, hostel allowances, and a one-off grant of SGD200 upon arrival in Singapore for a maximum of four years of their undergraduate programs.

The scholarship will be reviewed annually, and is subject to satisfactory performance and academic results.

Upon graduation scholarship winners must work for three years at either an approved company in Singapore or a designated Singapore-based company in their home country.
