U.S. Congressional agency announces fellowships for Vietnamese

Update 02/11/2012 - 08:04:40 AM (GMT+7)

A U.S. Congressional agency has announced that it will offer Vietnamese candidates up to 45 fellowships to study graduate courses in the United States in the fall of 2014.

The Vietnam Education Foundation, created by the U.S. Congress, expects to award the grants to highly qualified applicants interested in pursuing a Ph.D. or master’s degree at leading U.S. universities in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, medicine, engineering, technology, and other subjects.

Priority will be given to those candidates who want to focus on climate change or nuclear energy.

Candidates must be college juniors who will graduate by July 2014, or college graduates whose overall grade point average meets VEF requirements.

They are required to demonstrate sufficient proficiency in the English language and submit valid Graduate Record Examination scores to the agency.

An applicant must succeed in all three rounds of the selection process – namely Qualification Screening, Oral Exam/Interview, and Admission to a U.S. University – in order to secure a VEF fellowship.

VEF only accepts online applications, which will be available on its website, www.vef.gov, from December 10, 2012 to April 10, 2013.

Detailed information on the fellowships can be found at www.vef.gov.
