Update 26/10/2012 - 08:03:55 AM (GMT+7)

The Prime Minister has agreed to utilise $20 million from the education development programme to  improve quality of teaching in schools for gifted students in disadvantaged regions of the country.

The amount of $20 million was provided by the Asia Development Bank for the education development programme for high schools.

The Prime Minister agreed to the project to develop schools for gifted high school students in the period 2010-2020.

The target of the project is to develop such high schools so that each central province or city will have at least one high school for gifted students, who account for 2 percent of the province’s total number of students.

On October 25, the Ministry of Education and Training will also organize a ceremony to give awards to outstanding students who won prizes in the Olympiad Competitions in regional and international events in 2012.

This year for the first time 31 students from six groups participated in the competitions to all win prizes. All students are currently studying at schools for gifted students.

In particular, the group of students at the Maths Olympiad was ranked among the top 10 in the world.  Northern provinces of Hanoi, Nam Dinh, Son la, Ha Nam sent excellent students to these competitions.
