Local students excel at Asian Physics Olympiad

All eight Vietnamese students have won prizes at the 15th Asian Physics Olympiad (AphO 2014) in Singapore, according to the Department for Testing and Education Quality Accreditation under Ministry of Education and Training.

They were awarded one gold, four silver and two bronze medals, and a certificate of merit (consolation prize).

The gold medalist was Cao Ngoc Thai, a 12th grader from Phan Boi Chau Gifted High School in the central province of Nghe An.

 

The four silver medals went to Dao Phuong Khoi and Do Thi Bich Hue from the Gifted High School of the University of Natural Science under the Hanoi-based National University; Vu Thanh Trung Nam, a 11th grader from Hanoi Amsterdam Gifted High School; and Pham Nguyen Tuan Anh, a 12th grader from the Gifted High School of the HCM City-based National University.

 Cao Van Nam from the Gifted High School of the HCM City-based National University and Nguyen Ngoc Khanh from Phan Boi Chau Gifted High School in Nghe An province, both 11th graders bagged bronze medals.

The consolation prize was presented to Hoang Phuong Anh, a 12th grader from Luong Van Tuy Gifted High School in the northern province of Ninh Binh.

As scheduled, the eight Vietnamese students will return to Hanoi on the afternoon of May 19.
