PrintJapan supplies $850k to Vietnamese education, health projects
Update 23/12/2013 - 07:50:15 AM (GMT+7)Japan is set to provide US$853,211 in aid to fund education, health, and water supply projects in Vietnam under agreements signed on Tuesday in Ho Chi Minh City.
Japanese Consul General Hida Harumitsu signed the documents with representatives from the provinces where the projects will be carried out, according to the official Vietnam News Agency.
Four school construction projects that will be funded include Duc Tin 1 Elementary School in Binh Thuan Province ($115,412), Bao Thuan Elementary School in Lam Dong Province ($104,051), Hoa Minh Preschool and Elementary School in Binh Thuan Province ($121,259), and Tan Hoa B Elementary School in Tra Vinh Province ($113.535).
The Japanese government will also sponsor the procurement of healthcare facilities for Phung Hiep District General Hospital in Hau Giang Province ($121,910), Tan Hong District General Hospital in Dong Thap Province ($120,759), and Bu Dop District General Hospital in Binh Phuoc Province ($110,382).
The remaining amount ($45,903) will be disbursed to the development of a water supply system for four hamlets in Long An Province.
The funding is part of the Japanese government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects program, which has provided over $8 million to 113 projects in education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure in 26 Vietnamese provinces and cities since 1995.
