VGU aims to become Vietnam’s leading university

Update 20/05/2013 - 03:19:46 PM (GMT+7)

Vietnam and the German State of Hessen will work hard together to make the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) a high quality educational centre in the country and region.

The Hessen State Minister of Higher Education, Research and the Arts, Eva Kühne-Hörmann, said this on May 16 while receiving Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan in Berlin before the fifth annual meeting of the VGU Council.

Minister Hörmann praised the close ties between Vietnam and Hessen, saying they are a crucial foundation for building the two countries’ strategic partnership.

Minister Luan said he hopes that the German States and federal government will continue to intensify investment and cooperate with the VGU.

Launched in 2008, the VGU is one of the key projects between Vietnam and Hessen. The university is built to German standards and is closely linked to local businesses to ensure the training it offers matches enterprises’ actual demands for workers, which will  improve its students’ chances of getting better jobs.

The VGU Council consists of 10 German members and 10 from Vietnam and is chaired by Minister Luan.

Minister Luan also visited the Vietnamese embassy on the same day and worked with Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh.
